I consider my role in my art to be one of cultivator and archivist rather than inventor. As a lucid dreamer for many years, I have documented and mapped the landscape I enter in my subconscious mind nightly. These dreams are, of course, personal fears and desires of a conscious mind filtered through my experiences with pop culture. I document and mine these dreams for my artistic material creating sketches and journals become the basis for a more focused or “real” works. I switch between media: drawing, painting, and photographs of miniature sculptures or dioramas, as appropriate to create a complete vision of the dreams. They betray some latent cold-war anxiety as well as a love for science fiction, horror films and literature. Over the years the dreams have become richer and more self-referential. Through this process I am able to see them as funny, absurd, terrifying, disgusting, fascinating, and mundane
